Quantum Supremacy

In layman terms, it just means quantum computers are way better than our traditional computers. Google claims to have performed a calculation using its supercomputer in 200 seconds that would have taken the world's fastest supercomputer 10,000 years. Quantum computers use qubits, let's just say it's both on and off at the same time. This just proves quantum computers are practically possible, not that it's ready for deployment. The quantum computer used by google runs on its 54 qubit Sycamore processor. IBM, the company which operates the worlds fastest supercomputer IBM submit, claims that it would take it's machine just 2.5 days and not 10,000 years.  200 seconds v/s 2.5 days it's still a very big deal.

Astrology

Let me make this very clear Astrology is not a science and yes, astronomy has nothing to do with the same. Astronomy is the study of stars, planets and space in general, Astrology, on the other hand, is the bogus claim that these celestial bodies can affect your daily life. You and the stars are made of generally the same building blocks, the atoms and that's where the likeness if any ends. So remember this next time you read your stars.

Depression

#speak_your_mind I feel so depressed, a phrase used in our daily conversation devouring it's true significance and meaning. Depression is not something to be taken lightly and as a pamphlet released by our government a few years back says, it's not something that can be overcome by exercise and eating nutritious food. It's a serious state of mind. Psycho is another such word with a clinically significant meaning which we belittle. So next time we are sad or miserable try not to use the word depressed.  #don't_belittle_mental_health

Scientific Temper

#speak_your_mind The society which we live in, a world of fake news, false advertising and all of us falling for dubious claims. Scientific temper describes an attitude which involves the application of logic. Something each and everyone should inculcate so that this society can rise up as a whole. Try googling the so-called facts and news you receive and verify before you share. It's high time we open our eyes. #we_are_all_blind

Piems

"How I want a drink, alcoholic of course, after the heavy chapters involving quantum mechanics! " A piem by Sir James Hopwood Jeans.  Piems (formed by combining the words pi and poem) are poems which represent the constant pi such that the number of letters in each word is equal to each digit of pi in order. Here 3.14159265358979 Piphilology is the creation of mnemonic devices to remember the value of pi. Piems are one such device. #Piems
